Second Floor
Second Level Galleries
Galleries on the second level are designed to build on the first floor’s history exhibits, applying insights from the region’s past towards current and future issues confronting society. The floor is a laboratory-like center — a public forum that encourages visitors to contribute their perspectives across a range of topics. Second floor galleries focus on the everyday lives and creativity of visitors.
Exhibits Include
- StoryLab: A place where visitors share their own stories and perspectives about Bay Area History. Visitors will be invited to record their own video, audio, photo and text commentaries and then share them on site and online.
- Hands On!: Center for kids to discover, learn and participate in innovation across a wide range of rotating themes.
- Community Gallery: Temporary exhibits celebrating the neighborhoods and surrounding regions of the Bay Area; co-curated with local organizations and residents.
- Learning Center: Teachers and students engage in a “learning-beyond-school” place.
San Francisco and the Bay Region have always fostered risk-taking, adventure and creativity. This reputation has been attracting entrepreneurs and innovators ever since. This hall celebrates individuals and their contributions across a range of endeavors through history to the present day – and beyond!
